Dr. Niall Ordway, a renowned bio-regeneration and age-regression scientist, joins fellow lecturers in an underground, seaside, military base on the Isle of Man. En route, a solar plasma burst nearly crashes his plane into the sea. Soon, his facility loses power and all communication with the outside world. Constant solar flares bake the planet; while a massive earthquake and super volcano eruption elevate sea levels  which threaten to flood his underground home. Niall, his faculty of co-lecturers, a stranded submarine captain, a Witch, a quirky radio telescope operator and an alien from the Andromeda galaxy, must beat the clock to decipher the cause of these apocalyptic events and implement an Earth-saving plan of action.
